My daughter just returned from the London , Paris , Florence , Rome trip. I had planned on joining her on this trip. However, after attending one of many required meetings, I decided not to go with her because of the budget accommodations. It was more geared to students than adults. With this in mind, my daughter kept an open mind and sincerely enjoyed the sights and experiences Europe had to offer.

Although she enjoyed her tour, I would not recommend EF to anyone. Customer service would leave messages with EF rep , but calls and emails were not always returned. I had to go through the teacher to get a direct contact number. Even then, if I had called regarding a concern, My call was not returned.

There are multiple reviews regarding the hotels they use for these trips. According to my daughter, her experience was similar. The hotels were budget hotels and far from points of interest. London for example, we were told it was 20 minutes from the heart of London. It actually took them a full hour to get to London. The night train was "a nightmare" . I will leave out the details because she was told, this was the last year EF was using the night train (on which one of the participants was eaten by bedbugs). Her hotel in Rome shut off the water, so their last evening and morning, no one in the hotel could brush their teeth, shower, drink water, or flush the toilets. She was given no explanation, even after talking to the hotel's front desk. No bottled water was made available to them. As students, they were not allowed to venture out after room check, so they couldn't even go buy some in town. The water being turned off is not a predictable event that EF could have foreseen , however EF should have taken care of this basic need for water for the students if the hotel refused to do so. This hotel even had broken furniture and a broken bed and the hotel could not offer another room. From reading other reviews, it seems EF consistently books hotels of this caliber.

EF tours has a high price tag for running a budget tour. For the money we paid, I would expect access to water 24/7 and an unbroken bed.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $4000.

The great thing about youth and those young at heart, is that events like these are an adventure, not a crisis or ruination of their vacation. When they are older they will be telling how they were in Rome and the hotel turned the water off - all with a good laugh.

If you want to stay in an American type hotel, stay in America. I have traveled and some of my fondest memories are the results of unexpected events.

This is not to say that the company did not overcharge. That is a separate issue.
